Wikimania is the annual international conference of the Wikimedia community. It’s organized by a different local team each year — this year’s conference is taking place in Gdańsk, Poland. Wikimania allows the community and the general public to learn about and share their experiences with free knowledge initiatives all over the world.
The previous conferences were held in Frankfurt, Germany (2005), Boston, USA (2006), Taipei, Taiwan (2007), Alexandria, Egypt (2008), and Buenos Aires, Argentina (2009).

The 2nd International Conference on Social Informatics
It will take place in Laxenburg, Austria 27-29 October 2010. There is a following list of topics set for the conference:
- Computational models of social phenomena and social simulation
- Social networks: discovery, evolution, analysis and applications
- Web mining and its social interpretations
- Trust Management algorithms and protocols
- Design and analysis of Web2.0 applications (social or collaborative Web applications)
- Algorithms and protocols inspired by human societies
- Mechanisms for providing fairness in information systems
- Social choice mechanisms in the e-society
- Recommendation systems and social applications of the semantic Web

We would like to invite you for a second conference from Social Impact cycle: „Social research in Internet: education and business”, that will take place 30th June in Main Auditorium at Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology.
The conference is organised by a group of cooperating organisers of the cycle of meetings and conferences Social Impact – Interactive Research Center – together with Social Informatics at Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology. Thanks to this group the concept of meeting between representatives of science from Social Informatics field and practicioners from Social Media industry becomes a reality. The meeting will take place at Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology, that is a research centre in Social Informatics.
Social Informatics is also a new master’s degree course at Informatics faculty at Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology, financed by FSS (Financial Mechanizm EOG and Norwegian Financial Mechanizm) fund. This course gathers knowledge from social sciences with IT, educating leaders among IT professionals in network society. Mix of knowledge from social sciences and IT will enable the most creative ones to open their own companies offering Internet services.
Program of the upcoming conference is devided into two parts: scientific and business, coming as 20 minutes presentations wit 10 minutes slot for questions.
During the meeting, among other works, there will be presentations on Wikipedia and Internet social networks, as well as concrete case studies presented by practitioners from social media industry. You will be able to listen to presentation of two delegates from IAB.
Second edition of Social Impact aims to present the newest trends in research and social media industry, as well as stimulate to think about new directions of development in the industry from scientists perspective.
We hope that this special meeting will bring together representatives of computer science and practitioners working on daily basis on concrete problems of their clients, and that it will be a starting point to new projects and valuable business contacts. During and after the meeting we are ecouraging you to make conversations on group forum or in the privacy of the lobby.
The meeting is open, but number of available places is limited (200). Same as the first Social Impact conference is free of charge. The condition of participation in the meeting is a registration through a form on Social Impact web page.
